Gaian Methodologies Overview

Research Resources

We visualize Gaian Methodologies as a green and growing global research convergence:

The main resources on this site include how the following flower petals of sources and methods grow together to compose the flowering of Gaian methods and methodologies. We include bibliography resources, an analysis of the roots, stems and leaves, flowers, and seeds of each of the dimensions of Gaian research methods, and quotes and resources to further your own researches. The root of each represents the sources of that methodology or approach; the stem and leaves represent the extension and growth of each approach; the flowering of each represents some of its current known applications and successes; the seeds represent how that methodological approach is bringing new life out in the world, spinning off new ideas and research applications.

Original Gaian Methods scholars Hauk and Landsman, along with Professor Jeanine Canty (Naropa) and Professor Noël Cox Caniglia (Prescott), authored a paper on "Gaian Methods: An Emergent Confluence of Sustainability Research Innovation" that was presented at the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), October 2010, and published in their repository. Hauk and Landsman also produced a Powerpoint overview of some key factors in Gaian Methods, presented at the AASHE conference, exploring how Gaian Methods help researchers embed and embody, connect and collaborate, extend and extol, and thrum and thrive.

Other areas that have annotated bibliographies without essays include Philosophy, Ecopsychology, Planetary Evolution, and an Unannotated Bibliography of an additional 100+ sources. We also crosswalk all materials in our resources section and offer three spotlight reviews of relevant texts.
